Indoctrinate

Closely linked to its source, the Latin verb docēre which means “to teach,” the word indoctrinate first appeared in English in the 17th century. Therefore, indoctrinate (v) means the process of “teaching” a person or group to only accept a set of ideas, beliefs and opinions from a particular group’s perspective and not to consider opposing ideas, beliefs and opinions. It need not be the absolute trUth or negative even though most connect the word  indoctrinate with “brainwashing” which has historically held a negative connotation.

*** Mind control. Brainwashing. Propaganda. Indoctrinate ***
