If

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too:

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated don’t give way to hating,

And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

***

If you can dream – and not make dreams your master;

If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim,

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same:.

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build’em up with worn-out tools;

******

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings,

And never breathe a word about your loss:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

*********

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings – nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much:

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!

2020…kicking in the door screaming 444

2020 has proven to be the year of trUthful unveiling. My mama use to say “what goes on in the dark, eventually comes to the light”. As such, it has exposed our past and present deeds (high and low vibrational) revealing who we really are and our deepest fears. The state of अविद्या (Avidyā) – – to not know, not perceive, not see, not understand” – – can’t be sustained under such intense scrutiny. Everything we thought we knew is undergoing an authentic review even if we never admit it publicly or consciously. Even if you are not spiritual, your current awakening after confronting the abyss will forever change your perspective on self, others and your place in the world. We are not invincible. We are not separate from our fellow man. Our actions have consequences. This is trUth!

Many people once believed everything they heard without an investigation, critique or an  internal assessment (listening to their INNER-knowing which some believe has “perfect vision”). They even deliberately rationalized what they saw or knew to sustain their state of unconsciousness. That’s why some of the recent scandals and hearsay is still kind of hard to believe. But what If …..

the unbelievable stories were trUe and the seemingly factual were false …. all verifiable and supported by data, video, audio tape, texts and receipts?

Dedicated to “The One” who is dismantling the art of misdirection and dis-information.

Perhaps this will lead to a kind of humbling fall from grace to a place where we are now receptive for divine, intuitive instruction. This gift from the universe might give us the insight to do what we were put here to do (destiny) representing the best of the human spirit. The new sound of democracy is screaming to be heard. We think we know what it looks like but it could be reimagined a-Nu with a sound that rearranges molecular structure going towards something you never ever heard or experienced before. This new creative energy may display a kind of recklessness pushing us forward without knowing the final outcome. But, a Nu Amẹríkà awaits between the beats. My heart’s eyes and ears are now open to the loving sound and wisdom of this universal voice.

444 x φ = Nu Amẹríkà

Nu Amẹríkà

The first presidential debate happened between 45 and former vice president Joseph Biden. To say that it was a disaster is an understatement. For a presidential debate, it was very “unpresidential” with 45 resorting to constant interruptions, gas lighting, bullying and sending an affirmative message to the “Proud Boys” (code name for a white supremacist group) telling them to “stand down” and “stand by”. Biden was not as outrageous but he still did his own version of fighting back telling 45 to “shut up” and calling him a “clown”. This exchange was both entertaining and heart breaking at the same time. If it had been a reality show on Bravo, I would have enjoyed it thoroughly without the residual guilt. The fact that one of these two men will rule this country, however, left me feeling shameful for being amused at all. No matter who started the fight, when you go low to meet an opponent, especially one with narcissistic tendencies, you often diminish your own “crown” and lose moral high ground as well. In reality, this debate represented the underlying conflict residing in the consciousness of the American psyche since its formation – – an authentic “unveiling” of our country’s long struggle with race, classism and the propensity to resort to tribal tactics for power. Previous presidential candidates were able to mask their real feelings for the sake of civility but not in 2020.

“This was really no debate. It was a yo mama contest.”

Angela Rye, CNN Political Commentator

I am not going to judge their actions too harshly now because in one sense I feel relieved to see everything “unveiled” and out in the open. Some Americans typically expect our political figures to be appear perfect and collegial at all times which is not authentic – – and definitely not consistent with the character of 45. This presidential debate, however, revealed the shadow side of America – – conflicted, divided and narcissistic. Europeans have often referred to “US” as “the ugly Americans” based upon a book with a similar name describing how some American’s behavior (arrogance) is viewed abroad. To remain in a state of  अविद्या (Avidyā) – – not knowing, not perceiving, not seeing, not understanding” – – is what got us here in the first place. But once clarity and perspective is gained, it is assumed that one then has the ability to make better choices in one’s own best interest and for the sake of the country. How can this ever be wrong? It is from this position that a more perfect union could be reimagined fueled by a spiritual rebirth – – call it “Nu Amẹríkà – – forcing “US” closer to the grandest ideals and trUth held within a democratic society.

This Nu Amẹríkà could emerge soon born from conflict, ignorance, hate and love into a distinctly new creation. In spite of the recent political debate, I am hopeful dreaming of a society with more promise and uniquely “US” similar to the musical genius of jazz. Our country could reflect a chemically infectious Nu sound mixing different instrumental components forcing “US” to improvise possibilities in the moment – –  not static but with fluid movement – – and creating a different outlook not stuck on what was but what could be. It would be so cool to reinvent this country using our collective pain and love to catapult a world filled with new options. It basically comes down to building upon the lessons from our collective past and bridging the gap between love/grace and fear/hate. We can either look into the abyss and stay down or go up to a higher energetic frequency. Today, I cast my vote for embracing this Nu Amẹríkàn vision with its infectious rhythm radiating the love and empathy for humanity still residing somewhere deep within our hearts and soul.

I ain’t crazy! Something’s been said!

A Nu Amẹríkà is possible!

अविद्या

अविद्या (Avidyā) is a Vedic Sanskrit compound word composed from “a” and “vidya” (not vidya). The word vidya is derived from the Sanskrit root Vid, which means “to know, to perceive, to see, to understand” . Therefore, अविद्या (avidya) means to “not know, not perceive, not see, not understand”.

In the yogic philosophy, avidya doesn’t occur from a lack of information and goes far beyond ordinary denial or ignorance towards “unwisdom”. Avidya is a fundamental blindness, mistaking illusion to be reality and the inability to experience a deep connection to others, to the source of being, and to one’s own true self.

Animal Farm 2020

Photo by Jar Nech on Unsplash

We are unofficially at war in 2020 – – a horrendous political, psychological and cultural struggle tugging at the foundation of the United States of America. The different stakeholders in the struggle have expressed diverse views “unveiling” the hidden polarization within our society. To reiterate or debate these views is not my purpose today in spite of the ambiguity related to the upcoming presidential election and the expectation for a peaceful transfer of power no matter the outcome. My goal is to highlight the attributes and qualities that makes us divinely human as a collective. Yes, we can be tribal believing the “US” versus “THEM”  mentality. But in reality, every great artist, sage and spiritualist has shared a vision describing the “ONENESS” of humanity and the notion that l-o-v-e and our ability to consciously express this emotion towards others is what makes us different from animals.

Something is being said!

Humans are superior to animals. Right?
***
Voter suppression?
Police misconduct?
Supreme Court Justice imbalance?
Dis-information campaign?
Peaceful transfer of power?

As we approach the end of September, I thought about how the animal kingdom might view “US” wondering why the universe allegedly made them“inferior” to humans. During the pandemic, the animal kingdom has continued to proceed with their natural life cycles (birth, procreation, death) maintaining a kind of collaboration, grace and harmony quite different from mankind’s current struggles. Some have even flourished since humans have been in quarantine leaving their natural habitats and mother nature alone. This point led me to recall one of my favorite books, Animal Farm, by the fantastic author, George Orwell, describing a group of farm animals who rebel against the owner of their farm hoping to create a society where the animals can be free, equal and happy. Does this sound familiar? The animals were severely mistreated by the farmer, Mr. Jones, establishing the conditions ripe for an eventual coup. Ultimately, however, the rebellion is betrayed from within, and the farm ends up in a state far worse than it was before. This time, the mistreatment of the farm animals is administered under the harsh dictatorship from one of their own kind – – a pig named Napoleon who assumes the leadership style and human persona of the previous farmer. Wow! Interestingly, mankind also exhibits this very same type of behavior along with human betrayals within our political structures in every modern country.

George Orwell wrote this allegorical novella (fable) in response to the events leading up to the Russian Revolution in 1917 and the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. His famous book mirrored the historical events describing the natural human inclination to seek freedom and the instinct to pursue it at all costs under the right conditions. Revolution is one such action mankind will undertake if circumstances warrant it. Yet, there always remains hope for a peaceful change (transition or trans-form-ation) – – a sliver of light that can elevate the opposing debates to reveal the greater good and opportunities for creating balance and justice for ALL. When people open their eyes to their full humanity – – void of fear, hatred, selfishness “unveiling” the love within not just towards members of one’s own tribe – – humans start to demonstrate why we’ve held the position of being the designated “stewards” over the earth. Perhaps, it is necessary for “US” to experience a societal collapse before receiving the opportunity for an unprecedented rebirth. This phenomenon is even true in the natural world as demonstrated by animals for centuries as the cycles of life and death go round and round.

Something is being said America!

You don’t need to understand the language to understand the story.

The pursuit of freedom and other democratic ideals are always in a precarious position as demonstrated in our modern world and within Animal Farm. George Orwell very astutely describes how the animals’ ideals about freedom are ultimately betrayed when POWER is up for grabs. The same case can be made today within our own political parties. Many efforts to stop the onslaught of injustices violating these higher ideals and principles are often thwarted before ever materializing. Perhaps, the biblical prediction of “Babylon Falling” is based upon “US”. We must all brace ourselves for the unexpected knowing that you cannot have “light” without “darkness” (duality intertwined). But, the final outcome is not for certain as long as there exists a sliver of light within our collective hearts ignited to change for the better. A Nu earth could be the final outcome when we fully understand that our collective human connections matter.

“Sometimes you forget how much human
connection matters. But your people will
always show up to remind you.”

Alexus Ade-Chuol.

I read a story in a magazine about a same sex marriage between Alexus Ade-Chuol and model Aweng Ade-Chuol. One of the partners expressed a very heart felt observation about the audacity of love and the human condition. It was beautifully poignant and simple making me smile for the inherent joy expressed within her comments. Love is still the highest vibrational expression we, as humans, can demonstrate. Some may be preparing for the worse (yeah me too following my earthquake awakening) but I refuse to lose the one quality that makes me divinely human. No matter what atrocities we’ve experienced as a collective, the need for community and love have propelled us forward little by little towards a more perfect society. We cannot give up now even if some unpredictable drama is about to hit the proverbial fan. Where there’s no vision, the people perish – – right? So, hold on to your hope and the dream for a better tomorrow. Both will guide us towards the next steps for rebuilding our Nu Amẹríkà.

Patriotic or Not?

Freedom,. Justice. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

TrUth telling is alway patriotic. It leads to change, growth and evolution.

An Essay on Man: Epistle II

I. Know then thyself, presume not God to scan;

The proper study of mankind is man.

Plac’d on this isthmus of a middle state,

A being darkly wise, and rudely great:

With too much knowledge for the sceptic side,

With too much weakness for the stoic’s pride,

He hangs between; in doubt to act, or rest;

In doubt to deem himself a god, or beast;

In doubt his mind or body to prefer;

Born but to die, and reas’ning but to err;

Alike in ignorance, his reason such,

Whether he thinks too little, or too much:

Chaos of thought and passion, all confus’d;

Still by himself abus’d, or disabus’d;

Created half to rise, and half to fall;

Great lord of all things, yet a prey to all;

Sole judge of truth, in endless error hurl’d:

The glory, jest, and riddle of the world!

***

Go, wondrous creature! mount where science guides,

Go, measure earth, weigh air, and state the tides;

Instruct the planets in what orbs to run,

Correct old time, and regulate the sun;

Go, soar with Plato to th’ empyreal sphere,

To the first good, first perfect, and first fair;

Or tread the mazy round his follow’rs trod,

And quitting sense call imitating God;

As Eastern priests in giddy circles run,

And turn their heads to imitate the sun.

Go, teach Eternal Wisdom how to rule—

Then drop into thyself, and be a fool!

Superior beings, when of late they saw

A mortal Man unfold all Nature’s law,

Admir’d such wisdom in an earthly shape,

And showed a Newton as we shew an Ape.

***

Could he, whose rules the rapid comet bind,

Describe or fix one movement of his mind?

Who saw its fires here rise, and there descend,

Explain his own beginning, or his end?

Alas what wonder! Man’s superior part

Uncheck’d may rise, and climb from art to art;

But when his own great work is but begun,

What Reason weaves, by Passion is undone.

***

Trace science then, with modesty thy guide;

First strip off all her equipage of pride;

Deduct what is but vanity, or dress,

Or learning’s luxury, or idleness;

Or tricks to show the stretch of human brain,

Mere curious pleasure, or ingenious pain;

Expunge the whole, or lop th’ excrescent parts

Of all our Vices have created Arts;

Then see how little the remaining sum,

Which serv’d the past, and must the times to come!

Lady Heron Awakens

Something has been said parable: Lady Heron awakens powerfully from the flames and ashes arising again to embrace the Nu, radiating magically with sapphire blue eyes shimmering so bright able to see the past, present and future intertwined into the one, gloriously immortal, protected and guided towards a destiny beckoning – – latitude 23°26′11.7″ (or 23.4366°).

The Patriotic Education Agenda

The American educational indoctrination system is flawed. Nothing proves it more than the recent educational programming announcement by “45” called Patriotic Education. Apparently, our president is not supportive of changing the educational curriculum to more accurately reflect authentic, American His-torical events. He does’t want to see the old system changed but would like it to be more intrenched in the previous inaccuracies and omissions which have contributed to the racial divide that exists in these – – United States of of America. Some of our current American leadership have demonstrated a complicated relationship with trUth telling – – pathologically in fact – – even in the face of unequivocal evidence i.e. witnesses, previous public statements, video footage and documented evidence. So, it should come as no surprise that there is a national push to continue past pervasive falsehoods and half truths in our modern day educational system.

Photo by Daniele Levis Pelusi on Unsplash

Are you viewing American HIS-tory clearly?

Many educators have strongly advocated changing the modern day education curriculum and previous HIS-torical narrative to reflect the actual realities of past events in American HIS-story (for example … the original sin of slavery and the black contribution to this country’s wealth etc.). Critical Race Theory has been promoted to explain how the United States was built on the backs of enslaved blacks who were tortured, murdered, raped and systemically oppressed by design. In 2019, the New York Times Magazine also launched “The 1619 Project” which reframes this country’s HIS-tory by placing the consequences of slavery and black people’s contributions at the very center of the American national narrative. Its launch coincided with the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in the Virginia colony in 1619. The 1619 Project is an interactive initiative directed by New York Times reporter, Nikole Hannah-Jones, and includes contributions by other writers, poets, artists, and photographers. These efforts have seemingly “unveiled” the hidden virus within the American framework and psyche that refuses to be examined trUthfully and healed triggering some to fight for the idealized version of the American reality.

Critical Race Theory and the crusade against American history is toxic propaganda, ideological poison that, if not removed, will dissolve the civic bonds that tie us together. It will destroy our country.”

American President #45

In response to these efforts, 45 recently announced the 1776 Commission advocating “Patriotic Education” in schools in an attempt to promote American exceptionalism without telling how it achieved this feat. Interestingly, the previous curriculum glossed over American HIS-tory. The newly developed curriculum will take it to another level of American heroism void of a trUthful assessment. Some have expressed the view that it is “unpatriotic” to discuss the unpleasant and harsh realities about America’s formation and rise to POWER. They advocate that the contributions and mistreatment committed against blacks and others is overstated or flat out did not happen including many white nationalists labeling facts and historical trUth as hateful lies against white people’s power. Some view the facts about slavery, systemic racism and white privilege as hateful lies. The 1776 Commission will undoubtedly continue to gloss over these events perhaps going to more unbelievable extremes indoctrinating our children into an even greater false HIS-torical narrative.

What is Patriotic Education?

 TRANSLATION: White Nationalists and Superiority Education

If you have followed my writing about the educational indoctrination system then you already know my position on this matter. We need to honestly review what is taught in schools so that it reflects a trUthful understanding about this country. Children are intelligent beings who deserve the best education possible – – not one that attempts to misguide their understanding about their history, who they are and their place in the world. To not understand this core fact is a great injustice to all humanity because it attempts to force us into a permanent state of divisiveness and misunderstandings. It may also create an environment where a form of mental illness (false identity) develops when one is taught to discount your own past and present reality. Unfortunately, our leadership is too far entrenched to recognize these facts. Some honestly believe that there is one reality where America is only good and righteous (above reproach) in all its past and current actions.

In my opinion, the United States of America is still the one of greatest countries in the world even with its shortcomings. Its formation was triggered by great intellectual thought – – a miracle of what could be forged by incredible ideas (liberty, justice, equality and the pursuit of happiness) that has allowed groups of diverse people from around the world to coexist. It has provided some with the opportunity to grasp the sacred ideals within the American vision. But, America has also utilized some very dark and hideous actions to achieve its greatness causing incredible suffering and harm to some of its citizenry. Both realities are trUe and cannot be understood without the other (intertwined duality). The promise of America the beautiful has yet to be fulfilled but that doesn’t mean we should not try to make it a reality. It is “imperfect” within its “perfect” vision which means there is room for growth, expansion, and evolution. Perhaps this is the core problem with our current civil unrest – – an inability to clearly see and accept the unpleasant (sour) with the promises of life (sweet). Maybe, we have all been made a little mentally ill in how we’ve been indoctrinated as Americans. We’re all flawed living in an illusion designed to create a false internal sense of superiority or inferiority. We’re really not as fabulous or inadequate as we were indoctrinated to believe. In fact, it might just get harder to discern the trUth especially now in 2020 when some are on a mission to permanently mask the past.

Essay on Man and Other Poems

Photo by Tingey Injury Law Firm on Unsplash

IV. Go, wiser thou! and, in thy scale of sense

Weigh thy opinion against Providence;

Call imperfection what thou fanciest such,

Say, here he gives too little, there too much:

Destroy all creatures for thy sport or gust,

Yet cry, if man’s unhappy, God’s unjust;

If man alone engross not Heav’n’s high care,

Alone made perfect here, immortal there:

Snatch from his hand the balance and the rod,

Rejudge his justice, be the God of God.

In pride, in reas’ning pride, our error lies;

All quit their sphere, and rush into the skies.

Pride still is aiming at the blest abodes,

Men would be angels, angels would be gods.

Aspiring to be gods, if angels fell,

Aspiring to be angels, men rebel:

And who but wishes to invert the laws

Of order, sins against th’ Eternal Cause.
