Our Worthy Sons

Our worthy sons should never be ashamed

Of who they are and who they’re meant to be.

For far too long men’s gender has been blamed

In wars that weaponize identity.

To hell with toxic masculinity

That noxious term indelibly ingrained

In minds so duped and blind they fail to see

Our worthy sons should never be ashamed.

No baby boy is born to be constrained

By chromosomes or nationality.

No baby boy is born to be defamed

For who he is and who he’s meant to be.

Dividers hex and vex society

Till patriarchy’s name is trashed and stained

By twisted takes on inequality—

For far too long men’s gender has been blamed.

Our worthy sons are slammed and damned and framed

For heinous acts in long-gone history.

They’re criticized and demonized and maimed

In wars that weaponize identity.

Woke, factious terms like male supremacy

(Designed to geld the gallant) have inflamed

This mother’s ire to fight vile misandry—

To stand up and to shoot down hatred aimed

At worthy sons.

Men♂

When I was young, I used to

Watch behind the curtains

As men walked up and down the street. Wino men, old men.

Young men sharp as mustard.

See them. Men are always

Going somewhere.

They knew I was there. Fifteen

Years old and starving for them.

Under my window, they would pause,

Their shoulders high like the

Breasts of a young girl,

Jacket tails slapping over

Those behinds,

Men.

One day they hold you in the

Palms of their hands, gentle, as if you

Were the last raw egg in the world. Then

They tighten up. Just a little. The

First squeeze is nice. A quick hug.

Soft into your defenselessness. A little

More. The hurt begins. Wrench out a

Smile that slides around the fear. When the

Air disappears,

Your mind pops, exploding fiercely, briefly,

Like the head of a kitchen match. Shattered.

It is your juice

That runs down their legs. Staining their shoes.

When the earth rights itself again,

And taste tries to return to the tongue,

Your body has slammed shut. Forever.

No keys exist.

Then the window draws full upon

Your mind. There, just beyond

The sway of curtains, men walk.

Knowing something.

Going someplace.

But this time, I will simply

Stand and watch.

Maybe.

Outta Know Better … But Don’t

+++

Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.

Bible Luke 23:34

+++

We have all heard some version of this biblical quote but just how easy it is really to forgive grown people who outta know better. This sentiment rang loudly in my brain recently while reviewing old events that stung me to my core. Ouch!! How could they say or do such a thing with no forethought about consequences or without regard for past positive experiences, interactions and treatment? More importantly, how the f*ck could they do it moi? What happened to having basic personal ethics or integrity? Well, there is no way to explain anyone else’s behavior except mine but what I can tell you is that my high vibrational spiritual side does not resonate with me in this moment. Namaste my arse … LOL! In fact, I’m not wishing anything negative just recompense and justice paid in full – – like NOW.

Oh, the tangled web we weave when trying to deceive.
*
Something’s been said and it’s not trUe, fair or ethical.

+++

Perhaps these dark emotions will pass in time. I know this is trUe because they have indeed dissipated before. This is not my first encounter with tangled webs of foolishness and f*ckery nor will it be my last. In this moment, however, my dark side is requiring compensation as anger fuels my emotions pulsating through my veins – – uninhibited, unfiltered and unveiled. Will I ACT on these natural emotions plunging me into the abyss like those who have injured me??? No – – probably not since I don’t generally get down like they do. I also believe in KARMA (the preverbal energetic cause and effect frequency governing US all) knowing that whatever goes on in the dark always comes to the light. Yet, there is a need to really feel these negative emotions so that one can truly transcend and learn the lesson about the experience including your role and those who delivered the lesson. I most definitely get it now. Check mate!!

With my humanity on full display, I ask you only for your understanding and compassion. I never claimed to be a saint only a person preferring a more enlightened path of consciousness instead of low vibrational pettiness, hate and destructive behavior  – – if at all possible. It takes time to work out insults and injuries to the heart and soul but it does happen  – – eventually. Until then, the insensitive and predatory culprits might want to stay clear of me physically and energetically. Stand your ground is not simply a law in some US states. It is also a self r.e.s.p.e.c.t defense frequency still governing the universe. It’s time to forgive, release, CHANGE and recalibrate.

Outta Know Better … but y’all they don’t!!!! Duplicity??? WTF

Men

They hail you as their morning star

Because you are the way you are.

If you return the sentiment,

They’ll try to make you different;

And once they have you, safe and sound,

They want to change you all around.

Your moods and ways they put a curse on;

They’d make of you another person.

They cannot let you go your gait;

They influence and educate.

They’d alter all that they admired.

They make me sick, they make me tired.

The Circle of Life

***

CHANGE IS FINALLY HERE. The Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, has ushered in a new cycle for US to experience. What have WE sown in the past – –  2021 and beyond? Whatever it is will be clearly visible going forward in 2022. The circle of life must manifest unveiled in truth, love, sincerity, harmony and balance

It’s the first of the Jewish New Year.

Reset. Reimagine. Restart.

To Men

Sirs, when you pity us, I say

You waste your pity. Let it stay,

Well corked and stored upon your shelves,

Until you need it for yourselves.

We do appreciate God’s thought

In forming you, before He brought

Us into life. His art was crude,

But oh, so virile in its rude

Large elemental strength: and then

He learned His trade in making men;

Learned how to mix and mould the clay

And fashion in a finer way.

How fine that skillful way can be

You need but lift your eyes to see;

And we are glad God placed you there

To lift your eyes and find us fair.

Apprentice labour though you were,

He made you great enough to stir

The best and deepest depths of us,

And we are glad he made you thus.

Ay! we are glad of many things.

God strung our hearts with such fine strings

The least breath moves them, and we hear

Music where silence greets your ear.

We suffer so? but women’s souls

Like violet powder dropped on coals,

Give forth their best in anguish. Oh,

The subtle secrets that we know,

Of joy in sorrow, strange delights

Of ecstasy in pain-filled nights,

And mysteries of gain in loss

Known but to Christ upon the Cross!

Our tears are pitiful to you?

Look how the heaven-reflecting dew

Dissolves its life in tears. The sand

Meanwhile lies hard upon the strand.

How could your pity find a place

For us, the mothers of the race?

Men may be fathers unaware,

So poor the title is you wear,

But mothers -? Who that crown adorns

Knows all its mingled blooms and thorns;

And she whose feet that path hath trod

Has walked upon the heights with God.

No, offer us not pity’s cup.

There is no looking down or up

Between us: eye looks straight in eye:

Born equals, so we live and die.

Being a man is knowing where you are needed most

To swallow your fear and stand proud

A lack of guidance gives a misguided belief

your journey will thrust you forth into lessons

♂

Define what being a man is,

You don’t always have to be the protector

Even with a natural willingness

Being a man is knowing where you are needed most

Allow yourself to be vulnerable

In the face of struggle

A man isn’t meant to show how he feels

persevere through feelings of weakness and unimportance

Feeling lower then Others

To have versatility and creativity

Show subtle kindness and understanding

To be strong caring loving and warm

Being a man is knowing where you are needed most

Use your intellect care and humor

Admit your failures

Masculinity comes in different forms

Being a man is knowing where your needed the most

A man of the tribe doesn’t know his emotion

Allow yourself to feel and to be open

Learn that emotion isn’t weakness its courage

Love is Colorblind, Our World is Not

In a recent discussion with an elder tribe member, the subject pertaining to  l-o-v-e in a multi-cultural society became the topic of discussion. More and more people today are finding soul mates from different races as some barriers to inequality and bias have decreased slowly over the years. Beautiful mixed race children have always existed and are being born increasingly to families across the globe. For me personally, I have always believed that love – – the most powerful energetic frequency – – is indeed colorblind. Whomever you choose to love is deeply personal and mysterious too. Finding the right chemistry with anyone can be difficult but it is truly a blessing if you meet someone who fills that space for you ultimately speaking your own love language. Some might also speculate that these relationships have a specific predetermined destiny – – whether consciously or unconsciously aware — for each person to fulfill in their life’s mission. Based upon past HIS-torical and current events, however, we also know that the world we live in is not colorblind nor should it be since our cultural and ethnic heritage makes us – – US. Seeing “color” is only an issue when people make biased and prejudicial assumptions about “others” manifesting actions steeped in racial injustice which continue even today.

Photo by Taras Chernus on Unsplash

Racial inequity has not been conquered in our world.

Nothing really compares to being loved or being loving towards another. It simply feels “divine” even if the relationships are platonic. Love only hurts when relationships becomes toxic or inauthentic for oneself or the “other”. Yet, we all want it like a heat seeking missile hoping to find its target. Just like the vibration of hate, love can be felt intuitively and doesn’t need much fanfare. One simply knows when someone is right for you in that moment of time and based upon who you claim to BE. It is something you just feel in your gut.

Although I often blog about the pervasive social injustices steeped in racial inequality, there remains in my mind a distinction when it comes to love between beating h^arts. People must be allowed to live their trUth without unnecessary criticism, interference or commentary from “others’ who have no idea what makes YOU or that relationship tick. Besides – –  If all parties are happy, what difference should it make to anyone – – unless there is some abuse happening or you’re a hater sitting on the sidelines of love. Finding authentic love is just too precious to miss out on an opportunity simply because the person you love differs ethnically or their gender identification is different from what your family of origin or friendship circle might want for you. So – – keep “others” out of your personal business and pursue love connections based upon your own h^art space and what it right for you.

Something’s been said about L-O-V-E.

My loving resume has always included people who resonated with me somehow regardless of ethic background, occupation, nationality, zodiac sign, etc. A long time ago, I found a little book on love during a h^art breaking experience that influenced my perspective on this magical, frequency called love. There was a lot contained in those pages yet some lessons were so simple I can generally reference them to this day.

  • First, your personal love choices will tell a lot about you – – your preferences and expectations. If you ever choose to dig a little deeper, you will be able to identify your conscious and unconscious indoctrination related to love via the familial, societal and educational systems which all demonstrated what It should look, feel, and behave like. Depending on what you were taught, you might see some healthy and/or toxic love patterns that were modeled for you by “others”.
  • Second, love often provides a lot of life experiences and an opportunity for personal growth. We all evolve during these encounters – – hopefully for the better but not always.
  • Finally, authentic, healthy love is an action word requiring giving and receiving by all parties involved. No one necessarily gives the exact same thing yet all parties are mostly satisfied (LOL …ever heard of the 80/20 rule).
The Biblical teachings in the Book of Paul 1
Corinthians 12:31-13:8a offers much needed
clarity on the subject of L-O-V-E.

In 2020, there are over 7.7 billion people living on this planet we call Earth. The idea of finding the right soul tribe and partner(s) to meet your love needs are endless if you really think about it. Who and what these people will look like is where the real mystery begins. So, be open to the possibilities while keeping your conscious and unconscious prejudices and bias in check and remember the Shakespearean quote – – To Thine Self Be TrUe.

L-O-V-E is color blind indeed but WE still see color.

What is the measure?

Academic Study Of The Male Figure
Artist: JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT

What is the measure of a man?

Is it the the size of his heart,

His compassion for others,

The ability to stand back up

After the beating life has offered him

Live and die as you see fit,

Who is to say you have to live like this?

Its not your importance that matters

Nor your fame how deep your buried

or the goals you set or the hardship you endured

You and you alone decide how to live

its the impression you left,

its how far you’ve risen

Its the pain you overcame

the challenges you faced

To Masculinity

Some folks say that you’re toxic,

and destroying all the world.

Some folks say that you’re reckless,

and just want to feel up girls.

I think you’re like a fire,

a great tool in the right hands,

but able to turn quickly

and sear the foolish man.

Once upon a time we knew

what boys would be trained to be.

We taught them to wield the flame

that is masculinity.

Those who would do without it,

are brainless, spineless clods;

Life is not a therapy session,

it’s a fight against long odds!

To fight that fight without it

never ends all that well.

The vicious kill the peaceable types,

or corrupt them into their hell.

Without a strong mind standing

on lines drawn in the dirt,

we’d lose our lives or lose our souls

to the monsters of the Earth.

Photo by Lians Jadan on Unsplash

And let’s not forget the home life,

the one that we know best.

We’ve got young boys playing gangster,

or becoming men without chests.

Going hard to both extremes,

unaware of the middle path,

without the old code’s guidance,

they’re either lazy or full of wrath.

And men who once built things,

now sit home and get cash,

not ashamed at getting handouts,

their souls atrophy quite fast.

Other ‘men’ still make money,

spreading buzzwords, lies, and fear.

They feel no shame because honor

to them is dumb and weird.

So to you I am asking this,

though the softer types may squeal,

your presence is requested,

your fury, passion, zeal.

Your role here is important,

without you we cannot be.

I’ll teach my kids to now your name,

to know masculinity.
