Is HIS-story TrUthful?

It is generally accepted that whomever holds the POWER in most situations can control the public narrative. This is particularly true in discussing historical events. What we think and believe about ourselves, others, our country and world is greatly influenced by the person(s) telling the story even in more intimate relationships. On a more global scale, our governments and its vast leaders, rulers and elite class are in the highest position to dictate via the educational system and media what the populous knows and understands about local, national and world events. Some of what we have collectively believed to be the TrUth, in its entirety, are in fact partially or completely false. To one day come to this realization is to begin a real awakening process. It can shatter your worldview, blowing your mind to smithereens, since many of the perceptions of self, our relationships, and country are not necessarily accurate.

African proverb: “Until the Lion Learns How to Write, Every Story will Glorify the Hunter”

I have had many mind blowing experience like this in my lifetime. So many that I willingly retreated into forced self isolation (social distancing even before COVID-19) in order to get my bearings. I would pose the question to myself, “Is that what was really going on?” Thinking about past decisions and choices built upon faulty judgments and information is quite shocking, humbling – – and sometimes embarrassing.  During college, one of my professors was an attractive Frenchman (LOL … this point is relevant because his accent forced me to listen a little more closely) who taught American history, not from the view point of American exceptionalism, but from a more global perspective and position. His presentation, along with his challenging, unfiltered discussion questions based upon historical data, facts and written evidence on various American events and policies, made me question a lot about what I had been previously taught. He also unveiled US government actions demonstrating human rights violations and imperialism in a clear and direct (hard&black) manner. It wasn’t done in a bashing or disparaging way. He simple told the complete TrUth, both the positive and the negative attributes of this great country. I was not startled by his remarks (being a woman of color with an understanding of my ancestors’ past experiences) but many students were seemingly shook to the core hearing that America was, in fact, not above reproach. They often left without looking at anyone or saying anything at the end of class. They were either “spooked” or “unhinged” as their worldview or maybe self-identity was called into question. Their responses and actions clearly reflected it. Interesting, right?

“Exceptionalism is the perception or belief that a species, country, society, institution, movement, individual, or time period is “exceptional”. The term carries the implication, whether or not specified, that the referent is superior in some way.”

Whenever a person’s perceived reality is challenged and they can’t refute or answer back, one of  the first things they do is either avoid the topic, change the argument or even throw out insults. Most need time to process the information and its potential implications. On this website, we have encouraged everyone to use their God given common sense and INNER-knowing. Even if you read something being presented by ME as fact or my opinion, you should still use your own discernment. Many people are so strongly programmed to believe whatever the media, society or the various indoctrination systems tell them that it becomes virtually impossible to shift their perspective. Real wisdom is knowing that you don’t necessarily know all aspects of a subject matter for sure. There are some unbelievable TrUth tellers out there in the world if you choose to find them. I stand by the spiritual idea to, “seek and you shall find.” You may choose to not do so as well (whatever floats your boat is fine with me) but at a minimum, we can respectfully agree to disagree.

Bumping Into Unicorns

Two members of my tribe, representing different ethnic backgrounds, are conservative, not necessarily politically Republican, but certainly possessing leanings in that direction. I have other tribe members who are conservative but I had no idea these two felt similarly until we had one of our friendly fireside chats. Both tribe members, a business executive and a tech guru, are extremely intelligent, industrious and perceptive. As they shared some of their views, it initially felt like meeting a unicorn for the first time. I was a little shook beyond simple curiosity. Some of their observations were new to me but their views were presented logically with facts, examples and anecdotal stories to substantiate their arguments. This part was not surprising because, as stated previously, both are highly intelligent (and loving and kind even though it is hidden behind a stoic exterior). My thinking mind could not reject their positions outright. Some of the information even registered as “plausible” and “TrUthful” to me intuitively. My inner nerd was fascinated, as I became an eager student sitting in awe, absorbing the information while keeping track of its many layers. My own research later verified most of their observations (stats, articles, data …you name it)!

TrUth! Is it absolute or are there sometimes nuances with shades of grey? Data and facts are important but they can be misinterpreted, especially if one does not consider the context in which they arise. Teachers often use venn diagrams to show students that two or more opposing things can have common ground right in the middle. More than ever before, we have to seek out areas of agreement when attempting to evaluate or label something as TrUth

“The collective is best served when we don’t divide it.”

What does all this mean for me and potentially – – YOU? I learned that we cannot get so stuck in a position where we are unwilling to listen to the views of others. We have to hear opposing sides out. Their points of view often have some merit. Perhaps, you can learn something new or find common ground. This does not mean that there will be total agreement but you might be surprised at finding opportunities for compromise or even a change in perspective.

I really appreciate free-thinking people (whatever name you choose to call them  …. rebels, contrarians, nerds, or unicorns etc.) Their fireside chats can be very enlightening and entertaining. They will also challenge you think outside the box (self restricting mind limitations). So, I’m looking forward to another chat soon. Next time, I’ll come prepared, as a friend and student, to listen, ask questions, debate and take notes if need be. How about you?

Human Family

I note the obvious differences

in the human family.

Some of us are serious,

some thrive on comedy.

Some declare their lives are lived

as true profundity,

and others claim they really live

the real reality.

The variety of our skin tones

can confuse, bemuse, delight,

brown and pink and beige and purple,

tan and blue and white.

I’ve sailed upon the seven seas

and stopped in every land,

I’ve seen the wonders of the world

not yet one common man.

Controversy by Prince

I know ten thousand women

called Jane and Mary Jane,

but I’ve not seen any two

who really were the same.

Mirror twins are different

although their features jibe,

and lovers think quite different thoughts

while lying side by side.

We love and lose in China,

we weep on England’s moors,

and laugh and moan in Guinea,

and thrive on Spanish shores.

We seek success in Finland,

are born and die in Maine.

In minor ways we differ,

in major we’re the same.

I note the obvious differences

between each sort and type,

but we are more alike, my friends,

than we are unalike.

We are more alike, my friends,

than we are unalike.

We are more alike, my friends,

than we are unalike.

Its All A family Affair

Pretty Black Girl PSA

The word persona, in everyday usage, is a social role or character one presents to other people as opposed to their real nature or character. Its word origin is Latin, where it originally referred to a theatrical mask. Therefore, your persona or personality is your personal mask. Throughout this website, we have advocated that removing one’s “false” self mask and replacing it with your “TrUe”, authentic self is much needed. I stand by this assertion because the advantages of doing so are limitless. I’ve worked really hard to make sure the real me matches what you see (even though the Rona (COVID-19) temporarily forced me to wear a mask for safety).

ALLOW ME TO REINTRODUCE MYSELF

I am who I say I am.

I am transparent enough for you to know the real, authentic me and sense my energy.  Please believe me – – I mean what I say and I say what I mean. All my interactions with self and others are based upon my personal TrUth – – life experiences and my INNER-knowing. My actions and “yes’s” or “no’s” mean something (carry weight – – no fakery or double-mindedness). As we may all continue to wear or slowly start to remove the physical masks forced on us by the Rona, I still encourage you to unveil the real, authentic you (persona in alignment with mind, body and spirit). This unveiled, authentic divine human interests me immensely. Our world will one day celebrate and most definitely benefit from your positive energy and vibes.

45 and Crew Know Wassup

What does the White House know that we, the general public, don’t? I kept thinking this same question while watching the daily US press briefings with the president and his crew. No masks. check. No social distancing. check. No hand sanitizer. check. Touching the podium.  check. The US vice president even recently refused to wear a mask during a tour of the Mayo Clinic even though all the medical personnel and hospital staff wore masks. WTF? Again, what do they know or have access to, that we, the general public, don’t? Something has been said, for sure!

TrUth is indeed stranger than fiction. Fiction has to make sense.”

Mark Twain

It isn’t just the absence of these leaders not incorporating the recommended CDC guidelines, its their swag lately. No one would say that they have the charisma like the Jamie St. Patrick character, also known as Ghost from the show POWER on STARZ, but both the president and vice present have been giving off a little more cocky, confident vibe – – bordering on a kind of smugness with knowing you are untouchable or are getting over on someone who doesn’t have a clue. Bullies, haters, and narcissists all give off a certain vibe when they think they have the upper hand. I can feel the energy radiating from their words and actions. The Ghost character was a shrewd businessman, and sometimes killer, who always had a plan B and an exit strategy – – until the final episode in which he was killed by his own son (not expected but he should have seen it coming). Surely, there may be a COVID-19 plan B in place unbeknownst to everyday folks but most strategies have flaws with sometimes unanticipated events and consequences. TrUthfully, it could be the ultimate power move in a chess game – – The Art of War – – to keep us all in the dark and fearful. In politics, nothing is at it seems so maybe they are just simply trying to convince us that everything is okay so that we can go back to normal (Jedi mind trick giving a false sense of security as states reopen across the country).

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.

Abraham Lincoln

So, wouldn’t that just be some buckery if we found out there was a vaccine the whole time? Are we getting played? Is there some other more “unbelievable” issue going on here? Perhaps, there is a natural herbal remedy that not only boosts the immune system but prevents or even cures one from catching the virus as well. Now, wouldn’t that just be some S.H.I.T? I am not the only person raising these same questions (a few tribe members too) but I’m not going to worry or even write about this issue after this month (okay . . . will try to resist the urge). As my momma always says “What goes on in the dark, eventually comes to the light.” Ya’ll know that I have some conspiracy theory tendencies but trust me – – 45 and the crew know wassup.

Truthful or not … legal or illegal.
Plan B has to work on the public.

Blog Update 5/11/20: We, the people, do not take any satisfaction in recent media headlines showing White House officials testing positive for COVID-19. The Media and some tribe members believe 45 and crew are operating on blind faith or painful ignorance endangering White House staff. We, the people, need the answers unveiled for all to see and pray that our government and its leadership make sound decisions. Something’s been said for sure! If the government fails, We, the people, are at risk of failure. Looks like 45 and crew may not know wassup and will collectively have some splainin to do.

We Wear the Mask

We wear the mask that grins and lies,

It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,—

This debt we pay to human guile;

With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,

And mouth with myriad subtleties.

Why should the world be over-wise,

In counting all our tears and sighs?

Nay, let them only see us, while

       We wear the mask.

We smile, but, O great Christ, our cries

To thee from tortured souls arise.

We sing, but oh the clay is vile

Beneath our feet, and long the mile;

But let the world dream otherwise,

       We wear the mask!

Self Reflection

She has a comely form

and a smile that brightens her dorm . . .

but she’s grossly unthin

when seen from within;

soon a grief stricken campus will mourn.

Yet she’d never once criticize

a friend for the size of her thighs.

Do unto others—

sisters and brothers?

Yes, but also ourselves, likewise.

COVID-19’s Poetic Justice

As the end of April approaches, I thought about my earlier posts in Dec 2019. Surprisingly, I still feel hopeful and inspired by my fellow humans who banded together during the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). It took this global, public health crisis to get some to evaluate and reprioritize their lives. Our skies have been clearer and relatively free from excessive pollution. Spring arrived as animals wondered about in their naturally blooming habitats. They even explored more freely in urban settings as we all “social distanced” while human dominance  diminished in these environments. Many of America’s dirty little secrets were also unveiled related to poverty; access to heath care and its impact on preexisting conditions; big, corporate welfare; the food supply chain and hunger; science versus politics and religion, etc. COVID-19 has definitely rocked our world in some unbelievable ways perhaps changing us, as a collective, permanently. As one gangsta spiritualist poignantly stated, “Sometimes the only thing to cure a b*tch is a b*tch!”

When life hands someone their Karma in an elegant way, with witnesses and without any encouragement from victims or victors. It’s the balancing of the scales of Justice in a way that would make a good story for others to learn from.

Poetic Justice, Urban Dictionary

Most people are still “skeptically optimistic”, fearing a kind of poetic justice, once our cities and towns are back in business. It has definitely been a long journey as we listened to the media and read the headlines with disbelief, sadness, shock and even pure amusement, at times, as the buckery (yes i mean what you’re thinking) unveiled itself each and every day.  It was all too much for me to follow or obsess over. So, I focussed my attention on being grateful, maintaining my peace of mind (via prayer and meditation), keeping a giving spirit and cherishing the small, beautiful moments (birds chirping in the morning, working, writing, connecting to my tribe, learning new things etc.) The collective heart of humanity continued to beat expectantly waiting for the sweetness of life to overflow once more. Many doors are opening soon  – – get ready to refill your cups, saucers and bowls.
